Being open about our feelings and needs may be risky, but we need to start normalizing vulnerability if we are to receive the genuine care and love we deserve from our communities.
Love this!! I wish more of us felt a call and a comfort to be vulnerable. Like you said, life improves and becomes more fulfilling when we're able to open up in ways the world tries to get us to shy away from. Vulnerability is generosity to self and others.
This was so good, Qubilah! Def going to share this with some folks I’m in community with because it’s giving gems 💎were dropped throughout
Something I always share that I learned and found really helpful is looking at vulnerability like a pool and clearly all of us have levels. For some, our vulnerability might look like sticking our toe in and for others, we may be doing underwater gymnastics. The key is finding what works for you!
Thank you for reading and sharing, Kamil! I agree with you. There are levels to vulnerability and it is a matter of us figuring out how deep we can go.
Now seeeeeee, that is a different beast. But I also think it’s necessary. If those folks are going to be in your life, I hope they can make and hold space for ALL of you. Care to share a little about how your journey has been going so far?
I think I’m going to write about it this week because I haven’t fully figured out how I feel yet. Sometimes it’s not so bad and other times it is draining af.
Thank you so much for this post. I didn’t know that Rachel Cargle started this new campaign. I hope to provide some funds towards it, too. I had an amazing therapist back in 2021 but I couldn’t afford her and it was sad to let go of the relationship. I am hoping that my experience doesn’t get replicated for the Black women who need culturally competent therapy services.

Currently balancing a need to expand my capacity for vulnerability within interracial friendships. Whew…

I look forward to reading about it 💪🏾

Yes I didn’t know either, but I had heard of the foundation before. Thanks for showing my work love and setting an intention to donate 🫶🏾
